Hey!
Today on Radio Ravioli, Mira Cook will be in the studio performing a live set of music!
Mira Cook was last on WFMU on Billy Jam’s show in 2009. At the time she was living in San Francisco. She did a short, simple set with just her loop pedal, voice, and a couple of small instruments. (See the picture below + listen to the archive here!)
Mira lives in Brooklyn now and will be accompanied by a guitarist and violinist for today’s show. It’s exciting to have her back on and see all that she’s been up to since the last time she was at the station. I love her latest album Lashes To Lashes so much and am so excited to showcase her music. We hope to start the set by 3:30pm today!
🚨 One final thing! 🚨
I am leading a 3-week workshop (over zoom) at Salt Institute for Documentary Studies in February. It’s called 'How To Use Music To Set The Scene.' Check it out here, and see some more highlights about the workshop below.
In the workshop we will:
🔊 Think through designing podcasts *for sound* or *sound first* instead of leaving the sound as an afterthought.
🔂 Build out musical soundscapes in a DAW through everyday sounds, loops, and virtual instruments.
📚 Piss off copyright laws in favor of a “cultural lineage” model that honors the idea that everything comes from somewhere.
Hope you consider joining in!
